Welcome to ADRIANNE’S SPACE!

Hello! My name is Adrianne. I’m an explorer, observer, creative, problem solver, and a lifelong learner. This is my brand-new, fresh personal blog now known as ADRIANNE’S SPACE. Yes, I stylized the site name in all-caps.

This site is a rebrand and refresh from my previous personal blog of over ten years, The ADRICULOUS Life (TAL). I admit that I haven’t been very active with blogging in general and that the backend of TAL needed to be updated, and it was a complete mess. Not to mention that I have been using a new base multipurpose theme that is a lot lighter than the previous one. Lastly, I needed more motivation to continue as an art diary blog because of new interests and a lack of enthusiasm for quick and rough “diary art” to accompany my blog entries.

Actually, my domain expired a few days ago. I was also in the period of balancing my budget because of the 2024 tax period. The renewal fee for the domain became pretty expensive, and because I had been thinking about rebuilding the entire backend anyway, I decided to let it go and give it a brand-new domain, a brand-new name, and fresh content.

I want to create a new personal web space where I can write about anything other than what’s happening in life with the accompaniment of scuffed artwork. I still have my old artwork from TAL, and I thought about making a gallery section here and present them, so I can still have my memorable remnants of TAL.

Welcome to ADRIANNE’S SPACE, once again. I hope you enjoy your stay here!

About this Site

ADRIANNE’S SPACE has been launched and created on April 2, 2024. This personal space (blog, personal site, etc.) had gone through different names and domains before this one:

  • Adventure Antibiotics (late 90s-early 2000s – subdomain-hosted)
  • ADRIMARIE.us (mid-late 2000s)
  • ADRICULOUS.me (late 2000s-early 2010s)
  • The ADRICULOUS Life (early 2010s-2024)

How this site was built

I used the following tools to build ADRIANNE’S SPACE:

  • WordPress: Despite the mess going on with the parent company and a prominent web host company, this is a wonderful blogging/CMS platform. This also includes various plugins for the site’s stability, performance, and also a few fancy blocks in addition to the default Gutenberg Blocks. When the blocks first came out, I hated it and swore by the Classic Editor. Eventually, I adapted myself to Gutenberg Blocks, mainly because I wanted to design my sites in a faster way without feeling bad for my mediocre (or lack thereof) coding skills.

  • Child theme based on the Astra Theme: It’s very difficult to build your own WP theme, especially you’re not very well-versed with both PHP and JavaScript. However, child themes are very helpful for custom designing and mods. I was a disciple of Themify’s Ultra theme for many years, but the bloat was just driving me nuts. Then, I discovered the very lightweight Astra Theme, and I’ve been happy ever since.

  • VS Code: In the past, I used Notepad (the default Windows software), Notepad++, Atom, Brackets, and Sublime Text. I wanted to try out Phoenix Code, the new/forked version of Brackets, but I ended up sticking to VS Code. It’s really that versatile. But, you as a (hobbyist) web designer/developer have the choice of code editor/IDE. The code editors I used in the past are still great code editors. I just fell in love with the themes and the mods of VS Code that you can actually extend it with mods to make it into a functional IDE. Plus, it’s free. Forever.

  • Procreate: I struggled a lot in learning Illustrator to create my own digital art. But, after hearing things about Procreate, I decided to invest on an iPad. Ever since I started learning the software and taking digital art courses for it during the pandemic, I never looked back. I primarily use Procreate now for my digital artwork. My (banner) logo and various placeholder featured images that contain original artwork that you see in this site and some of my blog posts are all thanks to Procreate.

  • Adobe CC: Not the entire suite, but I use Adobe Express for quick featured images on my phone when I’m away from my laptop, Adobe Photoshop for intermediate-leveled image editing, and Adobe Illustrator for converting my Procreate artwork to vector, as well as creating vector artwork.

  • (A2) Hosting: A2 Hosting has been my web host for almost 10 years now. During the 2010s decade, I used to be hosted under one of my old friends’ web hosting company. But then, I wanted to have more freedom, so to speak, plus I had enough money to afford another web host that has the things I need for better management. It used to be called A2 Hosting, but as of early 2025, the web host changed their name to just Hosting.com.

  • Namecheap: Namecheap has been my domain provider ever since I started owning my own domain for my personal site projects. That was around in the early 2000s. It’s been some 25-ish years now.
