Nice to meet you!

I’m Adrianne, a 40-something-year old nerdette of many trades. I like writing, reading, art, traveling, exploring, observing, gaming, and problem solving.

I started creating my web presence in the late 1990s, when my first website, a Dragonball Z fanfic, was hosted on the now-defunct Geocities. I loved watching DBZ back then through (pirated) fansub VHS tapes and began admiring the female characters there. Chi-Chi, Bulma, Videl, Pan, Android 19, Marron. Somehow, Bulma inspired me that female techies can happen in real life, and I decided to pursue technology. I earned my BFA in Visual Communications back in 2006, with Digital Design Concentration. Unfortunately, I found another calling, and never used this fancy piece of paper to pursue a career in this field.

Looking back in these twenty-plus years… almost thirty years, actually, I’m really amazed how far I’ve come from being a small hobby-only anime fanfic site into a personal space with all other separate websites in them. I may have lost momentum, but at the same time, the passion and fire in building and having fun with these websites is still there. When the domain for The ADRICULOUS Life ended in late March 2024, I thought about quitting the decades-long personal blog/sites scene altogether. After all, most of us who were in this scene were young women in their teens and twenties. Gen X, Millenials, whatever you call it. Today, we’re all past those ages and many of us began to live life.

Some of us got married and started building their own families. Some of us have dedicated ourselves to our own careers. Some of us just got into a whole different field of interest. Because of these and other reasons, we end up abandoning our personal blogs/sites and some just simply close down their sites and move on with their lives. I’ve been here and there, more active on my other sites than my personal one, but in this case, I’m still here.

I’m fluent in two languages and somewhat proficient in a third language: Filipino (native), English (2nd language), and Japanese (semi-proficient). But because this is a space catered on a global scale, I’ll be sticking with English.

When it comes to today’s society, I see myself more as a moderate. I lean a little bit towards progressive values, but because I’m a Libra, there should be a balance between two sides. The perfect yin and yang, if you will. I don’t like writing about politics or anything religious (I’m a practicing Roman Catholic), but there may be a time where I would have to blog one day.

Hobbies & Interests

I talked about my super-brief history of my web presence and the websites I built. I don’t keep a record of the types of sites that I built and the subjects they present, mainly because I did a lot of experimenting. I still stuck with WordPress, even though I tried other blogging/CMS platforms like Jekyll and Hugo, and even tried headless CMS, too.

The hobbies and interests here should give you an idea about the types of websites that I made these past two-ish decades:

  • Anime & Manga
  • Video Games
  • Writing (fan)fiction
  • Reading
  • Art
  • Photography
  • Traveling
  • Cooking (?)
  • Journaling/Notetaking

There are probably more interests that I have, but they’re very minor and not that important to list. Every day, I discover some activities I may get interested in, and when I do get into them, they get added to my hobbies list.

Also, occasionally, I read about the latest trends and news in the web development industry and beyond. I have my own DevCard to prove it.

Ongoing Projects

I’m currently working on the following external site projects, in addition to this blog. Look forward to them!

  • ADRIANNE.me (rebuilding collective/link-in-bio site under a new name)
  • Chika Wota Blog (revamping of my old (underground) J-Pop blog)
  • STARMIN Blog (revamping of my HOLOSTARS fan blog, formerly known as Starpura Space)
  • Adri Mars Studio (my upcoming art gallery and portfolio. My art gallery here will be transferred over there, once I get it up)
