I had to blog… or I’ll spend the rest of the month regretting for the mistake that I have made. Yesterday morning, I was trying to clean up some inactive sites, domains, etc. from the web host. Unfortunately, because most of my domains have my first name, I accidentally removed this blog instead of my old link in bio page. 1
After I got home from work, I had to reach out to tech support and restore the site. Luckily, because technology advances really fast, it’s a lot easier to restore files, databases, etc. from the client’s end. Tech support introduced me to JetBackup, a feature in the cPanel that makes restoration of sites, files, etc. with just a click of a button. All I could say is whew! Everything’s back to normal and I can blog in here again.
Work’s been busy. Life’s been busy. But I’m still trying to get myself to find some time to work on these web projects. Still, it’s hard to find inspiration. I’ve been gaming more, drawing more 2, among other things.
It’s a very short, brief post. I just want to blog something because I almost lost this blog. All the hard work I’ve been through would’ve gone down the drain. But, what a huge sigh of relief that I was able to restore it. My gosh…
Whoa how scary. I could totally see me doing something like that. Least it was fixable!
We all do a lot of booboos like that, especially when you’re a hobbyist. At the same time, this is why thorough research is essential when you’re looking for a good, reputable web host. I’ve been hosted under A2 Hosting (it’s now called Hosting.com ) for almost 10 years, if I’m not mistaken. Tech support is top-notch, and they’ve added so many useful features that you may one day need. For example, the whole JetBackup feature that was added in cPanel, and my site(s) are automatically backed up through the cloud. Because of those new features, I was able to get my site back with just a click of a button.
Luckily, my blog was deleted/disappeared for only one day
