The Arrival of the Mid-2020s

The Arrival of the Mid-2020s

Can you believe this? We’re only a few days away from 2025. We realized that we have just reached the middle line of the 2020s decade! After all, this happens when we kick off the 2020s decade with a long period of the COVID-19 pandemic, right? For the first three years, we did all we could to stay safe while we waited for a vaccine or a cure that could kill off this deadly virus. 2023 began the recovery and return to life before the pandemic started. Regardless of the disruption and inactivity in our daily lives, we could still adapt to many changes.

We lived in the first few years of the decade, adapting to convenience and living a remote life. Some of us have gotten used to staying home more often, fearing for any unwanted foreign entity lurking around others and then striking our daily health, such as a deadly virus. Others couldn’t wait to return to how things were before the pandemic hit. As a self-proclaimed centrist, I hope we’ll keep both the new and the old. Unfortunately, some won’t have it. One good example is remote work. If you have read the news lately about some major companies calling for RTO1 policies on their (corporate) employees. In short, they want their (corporate) employees working remotely to return to their office all five weekdays, just like how it was before the pandemic. The reactions of these employees and some of the general public showed outrage.

My current job requires me to be on site due to my job’s nature, which this doesn’t really apply to me. But I would love to work remotely someday in the future. Most major corporations are demanding to get back to the work as usual days before the pandemic, but there are smaller to medium companies that still allow their employees to work remotely. Maybe I should look into these smaller companies instead?

Aside from that, I feel this vibe of uncertainty about what’s to come in the mid-2020s. I think uncertainty is the best word I could describe of this current feeling I have right now towards the world. However, I’m only one person, and my current environment is my own environment. I hope the environments of everyone else around me remain safe, comfortable, and untouched for this new year.

A few plans for ADRIANNE’S SPACE

Despite the uncertainty of how 2025 would be like for me, I still want to expand some content on this site. I originally intended to keep the non-niche personal blog bit since the days of The ADRICULOUS Life and all the previous personal blogs before that. I still would like to keep the feel and vibe of a non-niche personal blog with ADRIANNE’S SPACE.

For 2025, here are some of the content (rather, ideas for content) that I would like to add to my blog:

  • Video game-related posts, whether it’s a game review or just personal thoughts about the game (Oh We GAMIN’!)
  • A section about bujo/bullet journaling, from the materials I use to the types of content that I add (BU-Journaling)
  • Add more custom/handmade fonts for free downloads
  • I planned on creating a separate website for my art and treat it as a portfolio and blog. But from the looks of things, the blogging part would be here instead
  • Beauty-related posts: When I still had The ADRICULOUS Life blog,I attempted to write posts about various K-beauty products that I discovered and regularly using. But, I never really understood, or did not have enough motivation, to write them. I abandoned the idea then. I’ll try again with this site, going for the no makeup makeup perspective.
  • Sharing some Asian culture and history. Namely, Filipino culture. And some Japanese culture.
  • Food-related posts. I’m in a way, a low-key foodie, but at the same time, I’m a diabetic with Type 2 diabetes.

There are other ideas in my head, but the ones above are those that may be priority in my list.

So long 2024!

I don’t do reflection posts. I think my past posts, all dated this year, were already written. And there are other moments that I rather keep to myself. I’ll probably write about that in my bujo instead.

2024 has been quite eventful for me. My main highlights are the two trips I’ve been to, since I haven’t been having long trips outside my hometown. I hope to do more travels this year and I hope I get some progress with other things too.

We just hit the midpoint of the 2020s decade. Despite the uncertainty, I hope I survive 2025. I hope you all do as well. Just hang in there.

Have a happy, prosperous new year, all!
