Yup. Lent Season and Easter already passed, so I return to my gamer days. It was during Lent that I got back into (digital) art again because I gave up playing video games of any kind, including those easy puzzle mobile games, along with the no-meat Fridays. 1 Now that I have that out of the way, let’s continue.
On the Switch…
Last year, let’s say, I was a game hoarder. I bought so many games that about half of the ones I bought I haven’t played yet. And they’re the pretty good ones too. That’s one thing that’s missing in this new site — a list of video games I currently play and the games I haven’t played yet. Yikes!
Currently, I’m playing the DLCs for Pokemon Violet. I actually finished the first one 2 late of last year and haven’t quite started with the second one 3. Speaking of Pokemon, I’m just a casual gamer overall. I haven’t played a Nintendo console game for several years before the Nintendo Switch came to my life. The last Nintendo console game I played was with the original Nintendo Wii. But at that time, both my parents (during their younger days) had been occupying the Wii with their sports and fitness games together, which was really fun and sweet. Family games with the Wii were so much fun during those times, but as time moves forward, we all grow old and eventually, lose our motivation to play too. 4 Anyway, my middle sister was the Pokemon fan. She’s played a lot of the games on the DS then. I’m not sure if she still plays them now because of work and motherhood too. When I got the Switch for my birthday two years ago, Pokemon was the third game that I purchased. Super Mario Odyssey was the first game that I purchased, along with Splatoon 3. But then Pokemon Violet took over me, and I have been playing that and barely touched the other two games.
And then, the game hoarding began. More on that at another time.
I want to finish The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles also, as I was playing that early this year, but my mind has been filled with the artistic mindset as of late that the problem solver mindset had been taking a break. I’ve always loved the Ace Attorney series. Somehow, this series helped me discover that I do have a knack for solving complex problems, and it helped me with mystery/detective games in other consoles too. Plus, I’ve always loved a good mystery in any form. The new Apollo Justice remake had been hyped on the first release, but I’m debating whether I should buy it. For one thing, I’ve played all the Apollo Justice games, the Phoenix Wright games, and the Miles Edgeworth game on my old DS Lite. 5 The only thing I haven’t played in the series was this Great Ace Attorney one because it became available in the newer DS model, which I didn’t have. I was so happy that I finally get to play it with the Switch now.
I started Makoto Wakaido’s Case Files, which is a simple pixel-based mystery game from an indie developer. I saw Axel Syrios 6 started playing it, so that got me to buy it. It may be pixel-based, but I love the simple stories behind the cases so far. Yeah, that’s it for now.
On Steam (Deck)…
I also admit that I don’t really play that many games on Steam (Deck). For one thing, I have an old Macbook Pro, and most of the good games on Steam are only Windows-compatible. I had to buy a virtual desktop with an annual subscription just to get Windows 11 working and play some Steam games there. Another sad part is that not all of the games available on Steam are compatible to the Steam Deck… what the heck?
I got my Steam Deck as a Christmas gift two years ago, but I barely touched it because of the reasons above. And then, I also had another problem. For some reason, the wifi doesn’t work on Steam Deck. I’ve already tried every solution I could find throughout the interwebs and none of them worked. It turns out that the wifi extender was plugged at the room next to mine that was too far from the wifi modem that we had to move it to another spot that’s closer. That finally fixed the wifi on Steam Deck.
I wanted to play FFXIV on the Steam Deck, but the upgrading was just tedious and have given me a headache. In every 2000MB downloaded, it would give me an error saying I have to try again. I have FFXIV installed on my Mac, but this is one of those times were I want to play FFXIV while I’m lying down on my bed instead of getting up and playing it in front of my Mac. Yeah, I’ll try again at another time.
Some plans for this site with video games…
I added a Now page, so I’ll use that to update the games I’m currently playing, rather making a manual backlog and post it here. I may make an account from one of those game backlogging services, we’ll see.

I thought about writing a video games review. But because I am a casual player, the only things I can look for in a video game will be based on: plot, characters, playability, graphics, user-friendly UI, and probably my own feelings towards the price of the game. It would be like reviewing a book, with a few extras.

Maybe a fan art gallery of my favorite games if I ever get around to making actual fan art…
That’s all I could think of at the moment.
It’s time to conclude this blog entry. It’s actually past 2:00 am right now and I just reactivated a footnotes plugin. It’s going to need a lot of CSS-ing and all that… aesthetics and all…
Till next time!
