The Scent of Autumn

In a nutshell… AUTUMN is ADRIANNE’S MONTH

If I can remember carefully, I think I blogged about this before. Not here on this site, but my previous blog, The ADRICULOUS Life.

I didn’t blog anything about this last year because I was having a two-week vacay in the Philippines, and during that time, I had a bit of a slump when it came to blogging in general. This year wasn’t much of help either. My hopes of getting back into blogging altogether had been pretty stagnant. Life happens anytime, you know?

Today, I had the urge to blog. I have been away from this site for awhile now because of life and other projects. I am determined. Maybe a little desperate.

October is my personal month, and I haven’t blogged a single thing throughout this month until today. I vowed to myself not to repeat my October-less blogging last year. So now, I’m blogging again.

Ah… beautiful autumn!

Much of my personal tastes somehow are connected to the fall season. Here are a few reasons why.

  • 🍃 October is Adrianne Month: I was born on the 14th of October. Needless to say, I am on my last age until I hit the middle-aged adult period. I may be born on a cloudy, rainy Thursday those years ago in the Philippines, but October lands in the autumn season here in California
  • 🍁 No one can beat California Bay Area autumn weather: It may not be perfect, but it’s perfect to me. We get mild weather, sometimes sunny, sometimes cloudy. We also get rain whenever it comes. And those natural colors of red, orange, yellow, and brown when leaves fall from the trees and those that cling on the branches. You won’t see any of that in the other seasons. Absolutely breathtaking. 🍂
  • 🏵️ Fall Season fruits are fresh: We get lesser-known fruits like guavas, persimmons, kumquats, and quinces. And we get a lot of apples, grapes, and cranberries too. We already got plenty of Fuyu Persimmons ready for harvest at our backyard! I can’t wait to make salads and other types of dishes with them! Maybe give them away to family and friends for free too. They’re not very cheap in grocery stores, so might as well grow them on your own, right? 🍊
  • 🇵🇭 Filipino-American History Month: We existed here in the U.S. before the U.S. itself was born. October 18, 1587 – Morro Bay, California. No one can erase this historical moment. We were already here.
  • 🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Month: October became a much more meaningful month because of this. My late aunt defeated it the first time— and succumbed to it the second time. In between, my mother was also diagnosed with it and had been cancer-free for over 10 years now. Today, my youngest sister was also diagnosed and is going through chemo right now. To all the women around the world– no matter how healthy you may be, be sure to get examined. Get a mammogram, so that this major enemy can easily be detected before it attacks. You owe it to yourselves and to your families. Help your loved ones do the same as well. You may not celebrate your birthday on October, but when October comes, think about yourself and the fellow women around you.
  • 🎃 Halloween: Why not? It’s a celebration of cosplay costumes and candies! We’re making spooky in a fun way! I’m not a huge fan of watching horror flicks, but I do like reading stories about them. Even then, I also have preferred specifics when it comes to horror stories, like ghosts, cults, possessions, and anything that has some background history and lore in them. And that’s not all— they should be horror-adventures or horror-mysteries too.

Last but not least, this season somehow made me become more productive. After I built my first Hugo + Tailwind-powered portfolio website for AI prompt engineering, Prompted by Adrianne back in the summer, somehow it got me motivated and inspired to continue practicing all the web projects I kept planning on but never really worked on them. Assisted by AI by generating sample codes and breaking them down into pieces with explanations on their functions gave me a wide-eyed view on building websites, especially by hand. It also reminded me constantly that their generated code isn’t always correct, and it’s best to test the code first and then correct the mistakes. In short, it really helped me guide through the mistakes and test me on my code knowledge at the same time. For an average user, this is how vibe coding is supposed to be like.

But going back to autumn, I built three site projects:

  • index.adrianne: This is my new link-in-bio. It used to be under the domain name adrianne.site but that was long expired and I forgot to renew it. Luckily, adrianne.me became available. Right now, it’s just a link-in-bio. But eventually, it can become its own master collective. We’ll see in the future.
  • Patterned by Adrianne: This is my brand-new, newly-rebuilt data analytics portfolio. It was temporarily housed on the main domain, adrianne.io, but because of Patterned by Adrianne (ai.adrianne.io), I thought I should give a permanent home on a subdomain.
  • Portal by Adrianne: I converted the main domain into a portfolio portal. I could consider it a collective, but more on the serious projects such as AI, data analytics, and more coming soon. I want to use this as my master portfolio for job prospects.

Lastly, coming soon on the works is the return and rebuilding of my old web dev (blog/tutorial) site, Adrianne Codes (adrianne.codes). Years ago, I closed down the old blog and turned it into a redirect domain to my Hashnode blog. Because of AI and the things I’ve learned from building them, I decided to revive it back to its own site once more.

Conclusion

It’s almost nearing the end of 2025. I hope to have a much brighter, more positive 2026, although hoping for this is nearly impossible. With all the things going on right now, it’s very difficult to even living a normal life. Sadly, this is unavoidable.

At the end of the tunnel, there is light. But right now, we won’t see the end of the tunnel just yet.

I vowed to myself to blog more often here. I mean, this is a personal blog after all, right? Maybe at least a month… or twice a month.

This has been quite a mouthful blog post, and I’m glad that it’s a mouthful. I look forward to the coming months and start fresh again when 2026 hits.

Till next time!

  1. A belated happy birthday!

I’m sorry to hear about the cancer stuff with your family. =( I hope your sister is doing okay.

This time of year is nice. It can be pretty out and the weather is rather nice.

    1. Hi Megan, long time~! Hope you’re doing well yourself!

Luckily, my sister’s cancer was caught a lot earlier, so hopefully, her chemo will end soon, and she will recover.

Autumn is a fantastic season. It’s probably the only season where I actually feel alive. I never really get sick during autumn for some reason hehe.
